Marzena Sensitive Hair Remover Lotion
I am really hesitant when it comes to hair removal creams as I’ve tried some once before and by golly, it stunk to high heavens and it burnt my skin.
When Marzena approached me to try out some of the Sensitive Hair Remover Lotion which is enriched with Aloe Vera/Vitamin E, I was a little sceptical but decided to give it a hoon. Firstly, I had NO idea that Marzena was made here in New Zealand and is as old as me (est. 1987).
I’m lazy as f when it comes to shaving my legs, especially over winter. I embrace my true lumberjack and let it all grow out legs, pits – you name it. I don’t think Reuben was as welcoming of my new winter plans as I was so figured the delivery from Marzena was a timely one and that maybe the universe was trying to tell me something or that their PR contact had spotted my moo-stache in my Instagram pics.
So what do I do? Use it on my legs. And O-M-G, I remember running out of the bathroom (towel and all) yelling “feel my legs, feel my legs!” to Reuben. IT ACTUALLY WORKED!! He was equally amazed/impressed.
How does it work? I don’t actually know, like scientific deets, but it did what it said it would – remove unwanted hair. It did leave behind a few hairs which I could easily deal with, I think the first time I didn’t, I didn’t use enough cream as I was a little scared. I did it again the following night and my legs were 100% smooth and hair free. I got confident, I did my pits next, a bit trickier as I had to hold my arms up in the air as I didn’t want to put them down by my side and smoosh all the cream away. There might be an easier way, but it’s all part of the fun, right?
It works in as little as 3 min but I keep mine on for 6 minutes (time limit) to ensure it is effective as possible and after about 2-3 applications, my hair growth is far lighter than it used to be thanks to their unique growth inhibitor. You apply a thick layer to the desired area, wait the time and then wash off (would recommend wiping the area in circular motions with a cloth or loofa). You can actually see the hairs!
Yes, it’s a little smelly, definitely not unbearable and you can tell they’ve done their best to mask the smell the best they can. The smell is gone once it’s washed off and doesn’t linger like a lot of others. It also doesn’t dry out my skin like I thought it might.
I have a really faint lady stache that my foundation settles in sometimes. GONE. They also offer a hair lightening cream which would be a great alternative.
So there you have it, a new, and quick alternative to shaving. No more ridiculously expensive blades that cost more than a new razor, no more cuts, and ingrown hairs.
Since trying it, I am completely converted and I will NEVER shave again.
